What's included

1 live meeting

1 hour per week. Many resources and directions to outside material will be given to inspire further research and investigation. There is a huge amount out there and I will provide the best resources I have found to help newer and experienced players alike.

Class Experience

In this class, we will focus on the role of the Dungeon Master. Learners should be familiar with the game, rules, and general mechanics of play in order to get the most out of the class. Though anyone interested in being the DM will benefit, some things might be harder to grasp if the learner isn't already familiar with playing the game.

We will talk about the responsibilities, materials, skills, and knowledge that it takes to run a game for a group of people. We will discuss how to implement and use the rules to help your games run smoothly and encourage creativity, rather than limit it. We will cover the basics of campaign and adventure building, rules mechanics, how to run a combat, award treasure, and track experience. We will also discuss some strategies to find and create good groups and how to deal with some difficult situations in group dynamics and how to navigate those.

This is the sixth class in my D&D series.  The best order to take the classes is;
-Introduction to Dungeons & Dragons
-Dungeons & Dragons: Game Mechanics
-Introduction to Dungeons & Dragons: Creating a Character!
-Introduction to Dungeons & Dragons: Against the Goblin King! (Live 1-shot adventure)
-Dungeons & Dragons: Multiclassing Like a Pro!
-Dungeons & Dragons: Being the Dungeon Master!
-Dungeons & Dragons: World Building for Dungeon Masters!

The format of the class will be discussion and question and answer. No homework will be assigned and no tests are given.
Learning Goals
After this class, the learner should have a solid introduction to some of the challenges and responsibilities they will have in taking up the DM role. I will prepare them to start out on the right foot of their first DM'd game.

I've been playing D&D for 40 years and spent most of it as a Dungeon Master. I've played with all different ages and styles from the 1st Edition of D&D to now, the 5th Edition. I have a solid foundation of knowledge of the game and good storytelling skills and think I present them in a way that anyone can understand.
