"Welcome to the land of imagination..." was the opening line for one of the most iconic of the classic Dungeons & Dragons adventures, the Keep on the Borderlands! A generation of gamers got their first taste of what the D&D game was all about traveling to the Keep and adventuring through the Caves of Chaos! Now you can follow in the footsteps of countless other adventurers as you make your way to the Keep and explore the caves! This class will give learners who are new to Dungeons & Dragons a basic overview of the rules. We will create original characters using the D&D Essentials rules. We will them play a short adventure to give learners experience in using the rules to play in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. To prepare for class learners should look over the race and class options available in the Essentials rules. A copy of these rules will be provided upon enrollment. They should also download and print the character sheet they will receive upon enrollment. The Adventure Awaits...!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Ed!
I'm so happy to be teaching on Outschool!
I'm a professional puppeteer, a gamer, and a home school dad!
During my career as a puppeteer I've performed with the Muppets, the Jim Henson Company, and Sesame Street among others. I've been a puppeteer on feature films, tv shows, and videos throughout my 30+ year career. I have toured internationally with Walking with Dinosaurs-the Arena Spectacular for the past 11 years. Currently I own a company that tours throughout the Southeast.
As a home school dad I helped teach my son his entire school career.
I'm a huge fan of games, especially role-playing games! Playing a role playing game can improve skills like math, reading, comprehension, team work, and creative problem solving.
Students learn better when they are in an environment where they want to learn. Using puppetry and games, I've been able to educate students of all ages on a variety of topics. In fact, puppetry and games can be used to teach any subject under the sun!
Please look over my classes here on Outschool. If you have any questions or suggestions for classes you'd like to see, please get in touch with me!
