**We will be using the latest edition of Dungeons & Dragons: 5e, or Fifth Edition.** Have you ever wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons, but you just don't know where to start? Do you have a warrior inside of you who is just itching to go on quests, slay monsters, and recover treasure? Maybe you want to be the kind of being who can cast spells and save your friends from certain disaster, Perhaps most importantly, are you an adventurer at heart? In this class, we are going to start from...
Students will learn how to create a character and play Dungeons & Dragons.
I play Dungeons & Dragons myself! I am part of an ongoing campaign that meets on a semi-regular basis to have adventures and play this game.
You will need to print a copy of the character sheet and have a pencil and eraser ready for filling it in! (It would not be an awful idea to print more than one copy, just in case mistakes are made.)
No formal assessment will be provided for this class.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Dungeons & Dragons by its very nature involves imaginary battle and violence. If you feel these themes are not suitable for your child, then this class will not be a good fit for you. There are character building websites and apps available online, but they tend to be of varying quality. Because of this, and to help protect your learners' privacy, we will avoid this route by using printable character sheets and filling them in with pencil.
We will refer to the 5e Player's Handbook System Reference Documents, which are freely available online at https://www.5esrd.com. This website contains all of the information found in the hard-copy PHB, but costs nothing to access.
