Class Experience

Are you ready for a thrilling adventure that will test your bravery and cunning? Come join me in The Temple of Elemental Evil, an exciting adventure that isn't only the first mega-dungeon ever published, but voted one of the top greatest adventures of all-time for Dungeons and Dragons history. The town of Hommlet is truely in need of heroes, a darkness once thought defeated has returned stronger and more organized than ever. Fight against an evil cult and save the world using your wits, weapons, magic and more. Join me on this daring mission today!

Learners should have basic understanding of how to play Dungeons and Dragons, but inexperienced players are welcome. This adventure was created to introduce new players to the game, but also to become more challenging as the adventure advances.

This is a ongoing class and learners are allowed to drop in and participate, or drop out as their schedules require. Students that miss a class should contact me a few days before they plan to return so I can update their character level. At the beginning of each class we shall take a few minutes to recap the last class. We will also close out each class a few minutes early so we can go over the activities that occurred during class and to answer any questions the learners may have. I always encourage Learners and parent to email me with questions about the game.

Parental Guidance
Fantasy combat and spell useage is a integrated part of Dungeons and Dragons, and will be present in this class. The material will be age appropriate. There is always risk of the death of the fantasy character your Learner has created. It goes with the actions have consequences theme of Dungeons and Dragons. If this happens do not worry. Your Learner will be permitted to create a new one and rejoin the fun. Learners will need a free account on the website "Dungeons and Dragons Beyond", this account will need to be linked to my campaign world created just for this class and open only to its members. This site allows me to manage characters, and gives us an electronic dice-rolling feature that allows us to see what each of us roll as we play the game. It also gives learners to the full edition of the D&D 5e Player's Handbook that is shared from my account.
Supply List
Learners will be give access to the digital players's Handbook and electronic dice as part of their free account with D&D Beyond.
So make sure that you are signed up with that free account. I will send out invites to join my campaign link once enrolled.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a Dungeon Master for over 40 years, and have brought many new players, of all ages, into the game. I have also been a police officer for 30 years and worked with youth under the best and worst of conditions. This game will be led by me and it will be age appropriate for those that participate.

I have completed Phase One- Games to Grow Program for the theaputic application of games, and Outschools own training of "The G Word" , both programs giving me a better understanding of the neurodiverse world we live in.
