Class Experience

This ongoing Dungeons and Dragons adventure is designed specifically for teens. Each week we will play a DnD game that is imaginative, energetic, thrilling, filled with wonder and tailored to the individual players in the game. A strong emphasis will be placed on each learner's creativity and character design.

As this is an ongoing class, learners are free to join at any point and can also leave when they need. If you need to be absent for a week, we will simply catch you up when you return!

Who this class is for:

1) New DnD players searching for an exciting weekly adventure with an emphasis on fun while they learn the game at their pace

2) Experienced DnD players who want to explore a vast fantasy world and steer the story with their choices, all with the help of a veteran dungeon master

RULES

1) No evil characters
2) No flying characters
2) I advise that your character is someone who likes other people and is a supportive, positive team player. Beyond that, the sky is the limit!

Learning Goals

Students will continually learn more about the game and will also learn improv skills, critical thinking, strategic planning and teamwork.

Each session will be a fun exercise in imagination, group storytelling and creativity. Emphasis on fun!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
As this is a fantasy Dungeon and Dragons adventure where the students roleplay heroes facing dangerous adversaries, there will be occasional portrayals of non-graphic fantasy violence, akin to Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. Students will always be encouraged to have their characters solve problems without violence, but sometimes foes will be faced that require a strong sword arm or a potent spell. Even in those cases, the portrayals will be age appropriate.
Supply List
You will need:

1) Character Sheet (which I can provide if necessary)
2) Gaming dice
3) Paper and pencil
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I first began playing D&D back in the early days of 2nd Edition, when I was just 8 years old. Thus began a lifelong love of fantasy, imagination, roleplaying games and collaborative storytelling. Besides running professional D&D games, I am also a trained theatre actor and producer with 20+ years of experience creating immersive stories.

As a DM, I am patient, endlessly enthusiastic, creative, organized and devoted to my players' enjoyment. I also do quite a few character voices!
