Class Experience

Something is killing people in Palebank Village, and if the characters don't stop it, they might be next. "Frozen Sick" is an adventure that takes characters from 1st to 3rd level and introduces them to the continent's Biting North region-the bleak arctic realms of the Greying Wildlands and Eiselcross. Together, during session 1, we'll build your characters from a combination of your ideas and the world! Are they citizens of Uthodurn now aiding in the surface expansion of their civilization? Have they come north to seek freedom from the wars of other lands? Any number of options can help tie characters to this frigid region and the mysteries it holds.

In this course, we'll go over character creation for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition, including:
- Race and Class
- Name and Backstory
- Health and Armor Class
- Skill and Attributes
- Ability Points
- Personality, Alignment, Flaws
- Equipment and Spells (if needed)

Once we have our characters built and ready to go, we'll spend the next four session exploring the North, learning about a mystery disease, and trying to save both ourselves and the people of Palebank Village!

Learning Goals

Students will learn self-expression, communication skills, awareness of rules and guidelines, and social interaction skills, all while playing and learning a very open-ended, exploratory game.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hey, welcome! If you're seeing this, I'm excited to have you on my page! I'm a science teacher for all ages, specializing in life sciences! I have a Masters in Education, a credential in Biological Science, a degree from UC Davis in Entomology, and have experience teaching about the natural world to learners from elementary aged students to IB high school classes. Here on Outschool my classes consist of a combination of conversation, presentation, and critical thinking.

Some answers might seem easy or obvious but...why?
Some questions may be brand new. Exciting!

Here are my answers to this month's Five Questions:

- Definitely French Toast. Especially with cinnamon and vanilla? Easy.
- I really enjoy ones that make the audience think and...doubt about what's happening next.
Where you can only guess until everything clicks into place and then BAM...you're still wrong.
- Like, what's going on with the octopus? Eight limbs? And a small brain for each of them?? That still think even when severed???
- Honestly, didn't love them for a long time. Now? I'll definitely wait in line.
- It's been red and gray all day. Can't see more than a few miles, but fortunately there's a nice
breeze and it hasn't been too hot

In my classes you'll learn about the natural world around us and new ways to think about and navigate our ever changing world. I use and implement Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in all of my lessons for middle school and high school! Look for the specifics in the "Learning Goals" section of classes, or send me a message if you want to know more!

Anyone can learn science - if you wonder about the world around you, you'll learn something new every day :)
