In this Dungeons & Dragons game, the game is run by the teacher or Game Master (GM) who guides the story, while the learners are players controlling characters they've designed themselves. The teacher (GM/gamemaster) will describe the world and make the players feel like they are truly living in the world, assisted with maps, music, and visuals on a shared screen. This is an excellent campaign for beginner adventurers to experience a long D&D campaign. Advanced players will also feel welcomed here. Based in and around the town of Phandalin, Dragon of Icespire Peak is a module for the fantasy tabletop RPG that sees players attempting to protect the realm from a vicious white dragon that has been terrorizing the land. This adventure is also full of homebrew side quests and missions, so this version of Icespire Peak will be unlike any other! This is a long-term campaign, the adventures each week will be student-driven and led. I will have a brief guideline of what I want the players to accomplish each week but learners will ultimately be leading most of the narrative. With that being said, you can jump into the story at anytime. Learners do not need to attend the previous week in order to join the story, as characters may come and go throughout the large universe that is being created by the players. If you need to take a break, we will ensure that your character leaves the party and will be able to come back via the storyline anytime you are ready. I foresee this campaign lasting around 6 months or more. Week Ending in February 25, 2023 Topic 1: Introduction to the Adventure Week Ending in March 4, 2023 Topic 2: Dwarven Excavation Mission Week Ending in March 11, 2023 Topic 3: Dwarven Excavation Mission Week Ending in March 18, 2023 Topic 4: Dwarven Excavation Mission Week Ending in March 25, 2023 Topic 5: Gnomengarde Mission Week Ending in April 6, 2023 Topic 5: Gnomengarde Mission During this class, learners may use their own characters or use pre-generated character statistics for and they may mold their history and personality from there. Please message me for pre-generated characters that I can send to you if your learner does not already have a character and does not want to make their own. I will assist all learners in preparing the correct level character upon joining a section. Please be on the lookout for a message from me once you join the section! I will usually follow up with instructions within 24 hours of enrolling in a new section. YOU WILL NEED A STABLE INTERNET CONNECTION IN ORDER TO PLAY. If you do not use D&D Beyond for character creation and dice rolling, you will need your own physical dice to roll (all dice including d20, d12, d8, d6 and d4). Learners will be expected to follow basic player etiquette and we will review at the start of each class. Such as taking turns, not talking over one another, not lying about dice rolls, and listening closely. All learners will be expected to roleplay their characters in class, speaking as their character in dialogue and describing what they want their character to do. No player versus player is allowed in class, and you must tell the truth about your dice rolls (as the learners will be using their own dice or D&D Beyond). Costumes are not required but completely welcomed.
Learning Goals
Students will work together in cooperative puzzles and adventures to improve their story-telling, character building, social and critical thinking skills. During dice rolls, we will also be using basic addition and subtraction.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware: table-top RPGs are full of surprises and improvisation. They may be rated PG due to fantasy violence, magic, scary themes. I will be keeping the game as family friendly as possible but there will be fantastic battles and possible character injuries.
If your learner needs help creating a character, I will be directing them to D&D Beyond, which is a free and safe resource for D&D players. You will need to assist your learner in creating a D&D Beyond free account to create the character. I have a PDF that is accessible after enrollment for your learner to reference. You may also make your character on a sheet of paper and send it to me via Outschool messenger in photo format. Either way is fine.
