In this course that meets once, we'll learn how to create an adventure as the game master.
Class experience
We will learn how to design an adventure within the context of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. Some familiarity with the rules is helpful, but not required. This class will focus on topics such as creating a plot, with possible story hooks, and various resolutions. We will discuss how the non-player characters and the setting tie into the adventure that we run. We will use the concept of collaborative storytelling as the basis, considering aspects like player freedom, freestyle game...
I have been the game master for two groups that usually meet once a week for a few hours each, that have been consistently meeting for the last three years. I have done a lot of reflection on making and running games, as well as the storytelling and world building that goes into them. I am hoping to share some of my insights and passions, in helping your child learn how to both play and host roleplaying games with friends. I also have previous experience, teaching ages 12-17 where I was a summer camp instructor for two summers. There I taught students how to create levels in computer games, focusing on aspects like storytelling and game design.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be mentions of fantasy violence within the context of creative storytelling.
