Class Experience

Welcome to Cerilia! YOU can be a RULER. Not only will you have a typical heroic adventurer like in standard DnD, but you will also be taking charge of a realm of Cerilia and develop it, even as kings and queens, barons and counts wrestle with each other for the ultimate prize: unifying the lands under one sovereign!

Birthright is a classic setting for DnD, created in the 1990s. Players take the role of princes, counts, barons, arch mages, high priests and merchant guild masters, ruling their organizations, and developing their realms. Once, Cerilia was unified, but no more. Anyone who wishes to unify the continent again will have to gain the trust and collaboration with the students of this course. Perhaps, one of the players can ascend to become the sovereign?

As we play through this campaign, students will learn cooperation, diplomacy, geopolitics political economy, as well as how to do improvisational acting and how to build a story together.

Players are allowed to create a character before start, but have to discuss the character with the DM, as it has to fit into the setting.

Playable races are:
Humans
Dwarves
Elves
Half-elves
Halflings

The Week of March 3rd
We make characters and get familiar with the continent of Cerilia. This is session 0. As it is assumed that learners will not have characters at this point, we'll devote the session to character generation.

The Week of March 10th
The first stand alone adventure and players manage their holdings - their guilds, schools or baronies. As they do so, intrigues and stories develop.

The Week of March 17th
The second stand alone adventure and players manage their holdings - their guilds, schools or baronies. As they do so, intrigues and stories develop.

The Week of March 24th
The third stand alone adventure and players manage their holdings - their guilds, schools or baronies. As they do so, intrigues and stories develop.

Birthright fits the Ongoing Class schedule excellently. Since players take the roles of the politicians that rule the land, it is very much the sandbox-style play. Cerilia also has so many baronies and holdings that a player can come in after 3 sessions, make a character quickly, and get into the action on par with everyone else, making the new domain a new important power to be reckoned with. Likewise, if someone steps away from the class for 2 classes, they can easily come back and pick up the reign of their holding again, as the instructor manage their holding for them while they are away.
