Class Experience

ADVENTURERS WANTED! Do you crave adventure? Excitement? Do you want to help save the Forgotten Realms from a dragon? This is the adventuring club for you! Together with your party, you will be led through a quest to stop a cult from releasing the dragon queen, Tiamat, from her prison by your Dungeon Master, Ms. Rose. Come spend your summer exploring the Sword Coast of Faerun, located in the Forgotten Realms!

We will be playing using 5th Edition rules and there will be no shortage of fun, adventure, and mayhem! Players of all skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome in this adventuring club. Quests will be completed through teamwork and each player will have their time to shine based on their character's strengths, backstories, and their goals for that character. Brand new to Dungeons and Dragons? Fear not! Your Dungeon Master and fellow party members will be with you every step of the way!

Each weekly session will begin with a quick recap of the previous week and then we will pick up right where we left off! New party members can join at any time and their introduction to the party will be implemented into their first session. Any party members that need help leveling up their characters will be able to schedule a separate, short session with their Dungeon Master to walk them through the process. These meetings for leveling up are included in the weekly subscription price. Need help creating a character? I can help with that too!

The ongoing adventure is based off the module story, "The Hoard of the Dragon Queen." I will be using this story as a starting point for each session while adding my own personal touches. When planning sessions, I utilize many resources including the official Dungeon Master's Guide, official modules (for story ideas and inspiration!), map builders, and more. Roleplaying and story immersion are highly encouraged in this class! If a player is new to D&D and this style of gameplay, this class is a safe space for them to learn and grow. Each player's goals for their character will be taken into consideration as I plan, prepare, and run sessions.

Our Summer 2022 session will begin on May 11th. Our first meeting will operate as our session zero and introduction to the adventure. Each week players will encounter a new quest that will both be a complete story and make progress on the overarching storyline. New players will be able to jump into any week with ease. Any time we have a new player, we will begin the session with brief player and character introductions. We will then begin the session by integrating the new player's character into the party. All players from all skill levels are welcome in this group!
Learning Goals
Adventurers will learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons using 5th Edition rules. They will also learn collaboration, cooperation, and develop their problem-solving skills. They will be challenged through weekly quests to work together with their fellow party members and get opportunities to learn when to take the lead and when to defer to someone else. They will gain valuable teamwork experience, all while embarking on exciting adventures!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Dungeons and Dragons is an adventuring roleplaying game. Adventurers will encounter a variety of mythical creatures and monsters, many of which they will "fight" in order to complete quests. In roleplaying mode, we will be talking about using weapons and magical spells to fight various enemies and monsters. Language and roleplaying scenarios will be kept age-appropriate, but fight scenes are an expected aspect of a Dungeons and Dragons game. If you have any questions or concerns about anything in our weekly sessions, please send me a message! I am happy to discuss sessions and give a preview of what the party will be facing each week.
