Dungeons and Dragons for Teens: A World in Ruins
Class experience
In this weekly, on-going class, we will play through a lengthy, immersive campaign set on the Sword Coast of Forgotten Realms - the traditional Dungeons and Dragons setting. The players arrive in Neverwinter after a lengthy absence, only to find the city in ruins and strange people and creatures roaming the countryside. Can they figure out what happened? Are their friends and families safe? Will they be able to cope with the hazards of a post-apocalyptic world? And most importantly, will...
In Dungeons and Dragons: A World in Ruins, students will practice the many social and academic skills that D&D hones: - creative problem solving - critical thinking - teamwork - leadership - public speaking - quick mental math calculations
In addition to the hundreds of students I've taught on Outschool, I've also led several in-person seminars teaching Dungeons and Dragons to new players. I've been playing roleplaying games since I was a teenager. Now as a veteran homeschool parent, I blend my years of experience encouraging young people with my love of Dungeons and Dragons. I love providing a welcoming and affirming safe space for all of my students to relax and enjoy social time with others. I especially enjoy gently encouraging shy learners to come out of their shell. I am adept at keeping a balance between enthusiastic, outgoing students and quieter students who may prefer more structure with prompting to engage in the game.
2 files available upon enrollmentI will provide students with the Players Basic Rules and blank character sheets. If students do not have dice, they may use an online dice roller. They should also have a pencil and paper to use during class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
