Class experience
Welcome to the thrilling world of Dungeons and Dragons! In this class, we'll adventure on Faerûn's Sword Coast in the Lost Mine of Phandelver. The Lost Mine of Phandelver is the most beloved introduction to 5th edition D&D for good reason: it's a great adventure! We begin with a simple mission to deliver some cargo to the village of Phandalin. Things get more interesting when the players encounter some trouble on the road. We progress smoothly from straightforward encounters (in chapter 1)...
This class is taught in English.
Learners will learn the mechanics of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. We will also cover some ancillary topics like table etiquette, teamwork, and collaboration. The goal is to allow learners to gain enough familiarity and experience with the rules and gameplay of D&D to be able to participate elsewhere on Outschool, at school, at clubs, at the local gamestore, with friends, at conventions, or wherever they might find a game.
Homework Offered
Players will be responsible for doing certain tracking and maintenance of their characters between sessions (levelling up, tracking supplies, etc.) but time will be provided as needed to make sure everyone is caught up.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

No materials are strictly required but useful items include: 1. Polyhedral Tabletop Dice (d20, d12, d10, d8, d6, d4) 2. Scratch paper and writing implement 3. D&D reference materials (basic rules from dnd.wizards.com, Player's Handbook, etc.)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Violence is always an option in tabletop roleplaying games, but violence will not be graphically or disturbingly described. (E.g. 'your arrow strikes home' rather than some other more graphic description of carnage). Safety tools will be provided and used so that we avoid sensitive or upsetting topics for your learner.
