Class Experience

🎲 Welcome to D&D: Adventure & Skill Building! 🎲

Parents, we're excited to introduce you to our Dungeons & Dragons classes, where the focus goes beyond adventuring! Our campaigns are designed to help players build essential life skills like teamwork, integrity, accountability, and problem-solving—all while having a blast. 💡⚔️ Led by professional educators, our classes emphasize the learning process through imaginative play, fostering both personal growth and fun!

🎯 What We Focus On:

Structured skill-building through engaging gameplay
Team-based problem-solving and collaboration
Emphasizing core values like accountability and integrity
🎓 Prerequisites: This adventure is for players who’ve completed one or more campaigns and are familiar with the basics of D&D. It’s a mischievous and challenging campaign, perfect for those ready for the next step! We recommend taking at least one introductory course (103-106) before joining our ongoing campaigns to fully enjoy the experience.

🛡️ Teamwork & Game Values: We encourage a positive, team-focused playstyle. Our campaigns require cooperation, respect, and upholding values like integrity. "Evil" aligned characters are not allowed in our courses as we emphasize constructive, collaborative gameplay.

🌟 Adventure Overview: Welcome to Strixhaven, where the greatest magical minds gather! As students at this prestigious school, you’ll study under professors, unlock powerful magic, and defend your campus from the lurking dangers that threaten it. 🎓✨ Campus pranks and hijinks are fun—but be prepared for some serious challenges!

Are you ready to embark on this magical adventure? Let’s go! 🧙‍♀️🌍

Strixhaven Schools:

Lorehold: Explores the past and preserves its lessons for future generations. Also called the College of Archaeomancy, it focuses on chaos and order.

Prismari: Uses the elements to practice the arts. Also called the College of Elemental Arts, it focuses on perfection and expression.

Quandrix: Studies the mathematics of nature. Also called the College of Numeromancy, it focuses on theory & substance.

Silverquill: Teaches the magic of rhetoric, poetry, oration, and writing. Also called the College of Eloquence, it focuses on shadow and radiance.

Witherbloom: Harnesses the forces of life and death. Also called the College of Essence Studies, it focuses on growth and decay

*Weekly updates are provided to players who join open sessions if/as seats become available. Teachers work to incorporate new characters into the adventure story each week. When new players sign up, teachers communicate details regarding current character levels and plot lines.

🌟 Student Expectations 🌟

In our D&D club, we believe that roleplaying games are team-based, inclusive, and supportive. Even in this campaign's competitive moments, collaboration is key! We expect all students to do their best to help each other both in and out of the game. 🚀🤝

Negative behavior, like trying to harm another player's experience or making someone feel left out, will result in potential removal from the course—without refund. This decision will be at the discretion of the DM and Adam Scott, our club head. Let’s keep the fun friendly and uplifting! 🌈

🎮 New to RPGs? What’s It Like?

If you’ve never played a role-playing game before, get ready for an experience where you are the hero! 🛡️✨ RPGs are player-driven, meaning your choices shape the story—from heroic victories to surprising twists. It’s like stepping into your favorite book or movie, but with your decisions determining the outcome!

More than just fun, these games help you build problem-solving, teamwork, and social skills. And trust us—you’ll be so immersed in the adventure, you won’t even realize how much you’re learning along the way! 🎯📚

Who will like this class?

1) Players who have played one or more campaigns to completion. This is not a good "first adventure."
2) Players who want to explore a world, discover exciting places, and make complicated decisions.
3) Players who want to work together to overcome challenging obstacles within the game world.

This course will meet once a week for 90 minutes. The course is subscription based, and if there is a seat available, we'd love to have you join in the fun!

Note regarding late arrivals: As this is a roleplaying experience that is based on the personalities of the players, abrupt inclusion of a new participant often disrupts the quality of the session for all involved. Students who arrive late to a session will be admitted at a time that does not disrupt the action. Accordingly, they may be asked to wait until next meeting or session. Refunds will be granted at the discretion of the instructor. Please communicate ahead of time if there are any potential scheduling/tech challenges for a scheduled section.

Note to parents/students:

Some students may wish to use DnD Beyond for their character sheet. Account set up needs to happen before the session begins using a gmail or apple account. Per DnDBeyond.com policies, parents are required to set these accounts up using their own login credentials to comply with federal data security regulations. Students are never asked to enter any personal information into any websites by our instructors.

Families who do not wish to use DNDBeyond.com are still more than welcome to sign up for the course as we love "old school" paper character sheets!
Learning Goals
Students will get to experience all that a roleplaying game has too offer: teamwork, problem solving, social interaction, and basic statistical calculations. Through the process of playing, their characters will develop and evolve, leading to discussions with the instructor and other players about applying skills in a game setting.

Parental Guidance
Role-playing games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence.
Supply List
Students will be asked to bring a level one character to the course. They are required to be a magic user. Details will be provided regarding character creation upon signup.

The founder of DnD Club, Adam Scott, has been a professional classroom teacher his entire career, and playing role-playing games since he was 10 years old. In addition to his teaching experience, he believes each class should put the students at the center of learning, minimizing lecture and encouraging interaction. DnD Club has organized and taught groups of Dungeons and Dragons for hundreds of students and community members, running games professionally for private clients with children between 10-15 years old. We want you to live your adventure.
