🚀 Adventure Overview: Welcome to the Spelljammer Academy! 🚀 Ready to explore the Astral Sea and become a true Spelljammer? At the Spelljammer Academy, you'll train to navigate the stars, discover new worlds, and sail across the oceans of Wildspace! 🌌✨ This campaign will introduce you to cosmic races, magical ships, and thrilling journeys through the D&D multiverse. Your team will have its very own Spelljamming ship, and together, you’ll embark on incredible adventures across worlds. With every decision you make, the story evolves—no two sessions are ever the same! 🌟🛸 📅 Campaign Structure: This ongoing, subscription-based course welcomes new students at any time (space permitting). Each week offers a fresh, exciting adventure, allowing you to drop in or out as needed. 👥 Who Will Love This Class? 1) Experienced D&D players who know the basics and can create or select a character. 2) Adventurers who’ve completed at least one traditional fantasy campaign and want to try something new. 3) Explorers excited to dive into the vast universe, uncover new worlds, and make complex decisions. 4) Storytellers eager to develop a rich narrative and interact with quirky, noble, or even shady characters. 5) Team players who love solving problems collaboratively and having fun in the process! 🎮 Student Expectations: We believe that role-playing games are team-based, inclusive, and supportive. All players are expected to help each other in and out of the game. Any behavior meant to harm another player's experience or make them feel excluded may result in removal from the course—without refund, at the discretion of the DM and Adam Scott, the RPG Club head teacher. Let’s keep the adventure fun for everyone! 🌈🤝 ⏰ Note on Late Arrivals: As the game is shaped by player interactions, late arrivals can disrupt the flow of the session. If you arrive late, you’ll be admitted at a time that won’t interrupt the action. In some cases, you may need to wait until the next session to join. Refunds are at the discretion of the instructor, so please communicate any scheduling or tech challenges in advance. Join us for a cosmic adventure like no other! 🌠 Note to parents/students: You may choose to allow your child to have access to the D&D Beyond website (dndbeyond.com) to assist in their creation and use of characters or other content for use in this class. Use of and access to the D&D Beyond website is not required for this class, and it is solely within your discretion as the parent whether to allow your child to access the D&D Beyond website. Please note that the D&D Beyond website is a third-party service over which we have no control or responsibility, and any data or information shared on it or any other third-party website is subject to their terms of service and privacy policies.
Learning Goals
Students will get to experience all that a roleplaying game has too offer: teamwork, problem solving, social interaction, and basic statistical calculations. Through the process of playing, their characters will develop and evolve, leading to discussions with the instructor and other players about applying skills in a game setting.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Role-playing games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence.
Supply List
We will use the D&D Player Handbook and D&D Beyond. These are optional. Students may also wish to purchase the Spelljammer source books. This is optional and not required.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
