Class Experience
This course is designed for private instruction and is subject to the individuals drumming needs. Subjects taught could include basic reading of drum notation and rhythms. Development of the students playing and performing techniques for drum set and or percussion for school band. Multiple styles for drum set including but not limited to, Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, World grooves, Gospel and worship style, Country. Learning drum parts in a song. Developing a drum solo. Subjects taught are dependent on individual needs. Those could include, reading, exercises for stick control , finger control technique for drumming, moeller technique for drumming, and other hybrid drum techniques. Style and groove studies, fill studies and solo studies. Musical development, dynamic control, accent and roll studies, rudiments, standard 26 international 40 and hybrid. All tailored as needed.
Private students are expected to practice several times (3-4) per week outside of lesson time for maximum learning. This can vary depending on goals level of difficulty and schedule.
Students need their own drums and sticks. Other sources or supplies will be discussed as needed. That can range from method book purchase $10-$25 or uploaded sources which I will provide.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessments will be done during class time.
30 minutes per class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
