Description

Class Experience

Students will learn a variety of stretches that can also be done outside of the classroom. In the ballet portion of class, we will work on foundational moves such as degages, rond de jambs, passes, retires, and aerobesques. In the tap portion of class, we will work on learning shuffles, flaps, and slow cramp rolls. We will also focus on rhythm and keeping time.
There will not be any homework assigned, but since dance takes strength and repetition to perfect, it would be great for children to practice movements between lessons.
Students are more than welcome to dress up for class, as long as clothing is loosely fitted and does not have anything a child could trip over. Although ballet and tap shoes are not required, it would be great if they could use them in class. If the student does not have tap shoes, that is fine. They could join using sneakers (with laces tied tightly) instead. If possible, please provide a chair or something sturdy at an appropriate length for the height of your child for balancing. Please make sure your child takes the class in an open area where they will not accidentally kick something or put themselves in danger. Ideally, the space would not be slippery, but if it is a slippery surface, it is recommended to use non-stick socks or shoes. Parents and guardians should remain nearby to assist and prevent accidents. Children are free to dress up in prince and princess clothing, but please make sure the attire is loosely fitting. Having a water bottle nearby is ideal. If class is taken during warmer months, it is ideal to have an air conditioner or fan running to prevent overheating.

40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
It is highly recommended that parents accompany their young dancer and provide assistance.
