Class Experience
Students will celebrate Read Across America by dressing as their favorite character and sharing their favorite book. This will be a student-focused class, and I will facilitate discussion among the student. Book discussions increase excitement about reading and encourage exploration of other books. It also increases communication skills and demonstrates reading comprehension. Students' costumes can be as simple or as elaborate as they desire and if a student doesn't want to dress up that...
Students will demonstrate comprehension skills. Students will improve communication skills including active listening and expanding on their ideas. Students will have fun and share their excitement about reading.
I have been an English teacher for 20 years and have expertise in reading skills needed for students.
No homework
Students will need to provide their own costumes and a copy of a book if they wish to share the actual book.
Informal assessment based on student participation and I will provide parents with student feedback.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I will provide a direction sheet when enrollment is complete.
