Drawing and blending techniques will be modeled and taught. “Painting with markers” technique will be modeled and taught. The overall image created is a whimsical cartoon mouse hanging onto a flower. My main teaching style is step by step guided drawing with verbal and visual instruction. The student will see 2 screens: one video of me giving instruction, and one video of my hands drawing. This class is taught in English.
Students will learn to trace coins for accurate and precise circles and curves in their drawings. Students will learn to use a q-tip to create soft smooth blending with a pencil.
I am a Licensed K - 12 Visual Arts Teacher. I have been in public education & working in the visual arts field for over 18 years.
6” x 9” (or larger) piece of watercolor paper Regular Pencil (NOT a mechanical pencil) & Eraser Coins, 1 of each (quarter, dime, nickel, and penny) 1 Q-tip Non-Permanent Markers (preferably Crayola brand). Basic pack of 8 or 10. Small paint brush. Cup of water. Paper towel.
Informal Visual Assessment: Students will get a chance to share and discuss his or her artwork at the end of the lesson.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
