**Please note that this class runs every other week instead of weekly. Please note the class dates listed below. You will only be charged for the weeks that class is scheduled.** This is not a class of step-by-step lessons, but rather a drawing social club. Each week I provide a theme and show examples of simplified pictures or doodles as inspiration for the students to copy and/or adapt in their own creations. If any student needs help knowing how to draw an item, I am there to help...
Full Disclosure: I am not a professional artist! Growing up, I had always assumed that drawing was only for the naturally talented who had been gifted with special artistic abilities. It wasn't until I was a parent and began taking art courses in order to help teach my own children art that I began to realize that everyone has the ability to achieve artistic satisfaction given enough time and practice. When I read the book "Drawing with Children" by Mona Brookes, I encountered many techniques to help make that time and practice easy to achieve with children. I know that one way we improve our drawing ability is through practice. The more we draw, the better we get! Practicing in a safe non-judgemental atmosphere is one of the main points of this class!
Students should come to class with paper and markers. We use markers because they show off on screen better and encourage kids to draw confidently without relying on erasing. If using thin paper, a piece of thin cardboard or a folder placed underneath will keep the marker from bleeding through the paper and damaging tables or desks. I find that the side of a cereal box works well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
