Class Experience

In this ongoing class, we will learn about a new animal each week, complete a worksheet together about the animal, and illustrate the animal with a step-by-step drawing. The animal lesson and drawing will change each week.

Drawing is a great way for your learner to express themselves, improve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, and to creatively think. Drawing will also help your learner gain confidence, as they will be extremely proud to show off their creation.
We will discuss the importance of reading with expression, and learners will have a chance to practice their expressive reading throughout the lesson.
I teach with a lot of expressive group recitation. Learners will have opportunities to read aloud individually, but will never be pressured to do so.

Class will begin with an animal fact lesson or animal story.
The lesson will follow with a step-by-step drawing tutorial.
Learners will have a chance to show and share their unique creations at the end of the lesson!

*Drawings are cartoonish and whimsical with hints of realism!
No previous knowledge/drawing expertise is needed!
I look forward to meeting you in class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
The importance of each and every animal has always been a passion of mine. Countless hours were spent growing up placing earthworms in vegetable gardens, caring for pet rabbits, and fostering animals. I believe that by learning about different animals, learners will develop a greater understanding and appreciation for each role they play on Earth.
