Learn to sketch people: draw the human face, and proportionate bodies in still and action poses!

Class experience

We will practice drawing proportionate human figures in still and action poses, adding clothing, shading, and backgrounds.
Figure drawing is my favorite art discipline! I have years of experience creating my own drawings and sculptures, using the human form as inspiration, and I always brought my enjoyment and expertise to my students when we created figurative artworks. I have taught figure drawing to elementary, junior high, and high school age students for over a decade, and look forward to meeting more young artists who want to learn this skill!
Homework Offered
Students will experience the most growth if techniques are practiced daily.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Lesson demonstrations will pause periodically so that students have time to show their work and receive feedback or redirection if desired.
Grades Offered
 1 file available upon enrollment
Students will need: 1. Sketchbook or blank paper ~$10. (Available on Amazon, art supply websites such as Blick.com or School Specialty, any arts & crafts store, or-- white printer paper is also fine!) 2. Pencil & pencil sharpener ~$3. (Any no. 2 pencil will work; recommended artist brand pencils include Ticonderoga or General.) 3. Block eraser ~$2. (I prefer white block erasers such as Pentel or Staedtler, but any art eraser is fine.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will be using photographs of people as references. Photographs will depict a diverse range of body types, and respect for all models will be expected. There will be no nudity, however some figures may be clothed in leotards, gym shorts, or similar. Please feel free to address concerns with me beforehand, and I will take your student's needs into consideration.
