Students will learn a methodical approach to figure drawing basics. Topics covered may include: using reference images, human proportion, foreshortening and perspective, basic anatomy and applying a methodology to figure drawing.
There is no homework in this class. Yaay!
8x11 Legal white paper or a Sketchbook of comparable size. A good pencil. Number 2 is fine. A LIGHT BLUE or a LIGHT GREEN pencil. A pencil sharpener. An eraser (I highly suggest buying kneaded erasers.) Stan Lee's "How to draw Comics the Marvel Way!" is a great book and highly recommended but not required.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners will be be figure drawing along with me and they will learn some basics regarding the body. Absolutely nothing that could be considered inappropriate. However, we will discuss male and female skeletal and muscular anatomy in a general sense (pelvis, torso, hips, chest, rib cage etc.) so if there is some sensitivity to this subject, learner may not be a good fit for this class.
Totally optional: How to draw Super Heroes the Marvel Way! by Stan Lee.
