This class offers more challenge than my beginner class, but not as much as the advanced class. Drawings in this class are all unique compared to the other classes. A more simplified version of characters will be presented in this class compared to the Advanced class. This is a great next-step after the beginner class, or a good place to start for more experienced young artists. We start every class with a warm hello and a few minutes to share anything new and exciting for the week. This may be the learner's completed artwork from the previous week - or it may be a plushie, or something else! Next, we draw. I will teach young artists how to identify shapes and lines in Super Mario Bros characters, and create a drawing by following along, as I guide the process step-by-step. Learners will be able to watch my hand as I draw live with them. Students can use a black marker, or they can choose to use a pencil to start with. After drawing the figure, we will color them in if time allows. Students can use any coloring utensil they prefer! Crayons, colored pencils, markers, paint, pastels, the sky is the limit! While this is an art-based course, we want to also feel like a community, and get to know others who share a love for Super Mario Bros. See below which characters will be covered each week! Hello, I'm Ms. Jes!
In my classes, kids unleash their inner artist using favorite characters and games that I’m just as passionate about as they are. We explore spontaneous creativity and embracing “mistakes”. Let’s start drawing outside the box!
I am most passionate about teaching art and learning in unique ways. My approach to teaching infuses encouragement and optimism while having fun and connecting with a new generation over shared interests. Every child is special and celebrated for being who they are! No matter the class, I believe in positively approaching learning and finding joy in it.
• Outside of Outschool, I founded a nonprofit youth performing arts academy in 2015.
• I live in the beautiful Midwest of the USA with my husband and two children.
• If you need financial assistance, please don't hesitate to message me, and I will do my best to offer a reduced rate whenever possible.
