Drawing Science - Explore Ecosystems, Biomes, Life Science With Art
What's included
1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Draw nature's fascinating life-cycles, ecosystems, and biomes. Learners can draw a different system every TWO weeks in this live, online class. You do not need to be an artist to take this class. Mrs. Joyce will explain step-by-step drawing instruction as students follow along. Students can add their own creative style. This is a fun way to bring art and science together for a hands on learning experience. This class is social. Topics are discussed as we draw and learn simultaneously. No prior knowledge is needed for this class. For the ultimate experience, grab a sketchbook and join us twice a month, or anytime you are able. See you in class! Week of 4/28 – Soil Ecosystems Week of 5/12 – Microscopic Ecosystems of a Water Drop Week of 5/26 – Ecosystems of a Rainforest Week of 6/9 - Life Cycle of a Plant Week of 6/23 – Inside a Plant Cell Week of 7/7 – Inside an Animal Cell Week of 7/21 – Inside a Bacteria Cell Week of 8/4 – Layers of the Earth Week of 8/18 – The Solar System Week of 9/1 - Ecosystem of the Great Barrier Reef Week of 9/15 – Ecosystem of the Arctic Circle Week of 9/29 – Ecosystem of the Desert Week of 10/13 - Ecosystem of the Rotting Log Week of 10/27 - Ecosystem of the Great Plains Week of 11/10 – Ecosystem of the Redwood Forest Week of 11/24 – Ecosystem of a Pond Week of 12/8 – Ecosystem of the Open Ocean Week of 12/22 – Ecosystem of the Mangrove Swamp Week of 1/5 – Ecosystem of the Andes Mountains Week of 1/19 – The Human Heart Week of 2/2 – The Human Brain More to come.. Supplies needed include: -Drawing paper or printer paper -Pencil and eraser -Something to color with (optional): colored pencils, crayons, or markers. We don't always finish coloring in class - it depends on time.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of natures ecosystems and life-cycles by following along in a step-by-step drawing and a brief overview of the inner-workings of the systems.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Oregon
As an artist, the awe inspiring beauty of nature has kept me curiously researching the inner-workings of Earth's magnificent creations. My love for drawing science illustrations really bloomed during Botany class at the University of Oregon, as we sketched the forests floor. With the delicate webs, and life cycles, in which all is connected, breaking down due to pollution, destruction of habitats, and earth changes, I will do my best to inform others of the importance of these fascinating life cycles, as we use our artistic eye to take a closer look at how these systems rely on one another, and what we can do to preserve them.
