Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate - Advanced Level
In this 8 week, multiday course, students will be learning how to draw various fabrics and how they look laid on different surfaces, as well as how they interact with gravity and the human body.

Dependent on the level of students art styles, we will either work in a step-by-step manner or observationally using photographs. We will start by looking at examples of different fabrics (jeans, silk, cotton shirts, etc.) and how they interact with the human body. Provided there is extra time we will work on shading in the fabric or adding additional detail. It is recommended that the student has various pencils with different hardness of lead (4H- 8B), this will allow for easier shading in the end.

Below is a basic outline of what to expect from each class:
Week 1: Types of Folds

Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of Wyoming
Hello,
My name is Ms. Elizabeth Suriani, and I am a full-time artist from Northern Colorado. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History in 2016. While at the University of Wyoming I primarily studied 2D art style, including oil painting and print making. I also studied in Florence, Italy during the fall of 2015 where I studied architectural and figurative drawing, as well as fresco restoration.

Since 2015 I have been teaching art and art history to students ranging from ages 5-17 years old with lessons ranging from basic instructions, all the way to advanced classes and color theory for older students. I love teaching art and am currently teaching two international students in Italy and Thailand.

I have recently returned home from teaching English as a second language in Bangkok, Thailand with students aging from 2-16 years old. I loved working with my students and miss them dearly.
On top of being a full-time artist, I have also started my own jewelry business, as well as teaching English Language to children in China!

When teaching, I love to keep things fun and light. I believe that seriousness doesn’t do a young mind any good when learning art at an early age, it tends to discourage them instead. I want to help my students find art or anything they are passionate about and feel like they have a space to ask questions, experiment, and flourish.
I can’t wait to see you in class!
