In this fun and interactive course, students will learn about facial proportion and how to draw realistic facial features. As this is a flexible schedule class there are no live meetings but I provide an abundance of resources and support to help learners develop at their own pace. I am available and happy to answer your questions any time during the 4 weeks of class. Over four weeks, through specially recorded video demonstrations, I will teach learners how to draw a basic outline and gradually add the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Also included are tips on shading and fun demonstrations explaining proportion. For the last two weeks, the course will include a range of different hairstyles and accessories so that learners can choose their favourite and create a truly original drawing. Of course they also have the option to draw several faces if they would like to really develop their skills! This course is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience because the choice within the lessons means that learners can opt for slightly easier or harder drawings. By the end of the course, they'll have increased their confidence and have artwork to be proud of! In addition to this, every Wednesday I will also provide a downloadable resource on famous portraits. This will include suggested activities for extended learning opportunities (eg. recreating a famous portrait). These challenges are open-ended and designed to inspire all learners by demonstrating how we can be creative in different ways, so sharing the results to the classroom is highly encouraged! It is important to me to promote interaction through the Outschool Classroom (we can think of it as our 'gallery"!) so I will also be posting questions designed to get learners sharing ideas regularly! Each learner will be expected to post pictures of their drawing progress on the classroom and to leave positive feedback on each other's work, building a sense of community and support. These interactive elements make the biggest impact on students' enjoyment of the lessons and is the greatest difference between this course and following other online tutorials! Please encourage your child to interact in the Classroom as much as possible for the most rewarding learning experience. Below is the schedule for this course: ------------------------------- Week 1: - Outline of face - options to draw from scratch or trace from my provided template - Facial proportions explained - How and why to add shading - How to draw the eyes - How to draw the nose CREATIVE CHALLENGE: Exploring the facial expressions in Norman Rockwell's illustrations. ------------------------------ Week 2: How to draw the mouth How to draw the ears Adding the neck and shoulders CREATIVE CHALLENGE: Uncovering the emotions in Vincent Van Gogh's Self- Portraits. ------------------------------ Week 3: -General guide to drawing hair and hats! -How to draw a hat -Long hairstyle -Short hairstyle - (Plus 2 downloadable sheets with examples of different hairstyles and hats) CREATIVE CHALLENGE: Discovering the many faces of Cindy Sherman. -------------------------------- Week 4: How to draw a - moustache - Beard - Glasses - Collar CREATIVE CHALLENGE: The Mona Lisa's mysterious smile and a VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP to see it in PARIS!!!! --------------------------------- The skills students will learn during this course will build confidence and technique and be applicable to all future drawings they undertake. At the end of our time together, I will provide a digital certificate of completion to print out and proudly display! They will be welcome to join my other flex classes or my live ongoing drawing class "Everything You Need to Know About Drawing" where we complete a different drawing each week. If you have any questions about this Flex class please do not hesitate to message me!
