Class Experience

No matter what holidays you celebrate throughout the year, and whether they are small family gatherings or extended family events, place cards always add a special touch to your table setting, especially when they are hand made!

In this class, learners will choose hand lettering styles to make their place cards. We will talk about layering papers, adding embellishments or adornments and other ways to make the place cards special. Of course, these techniques can be used for other projects as well!

Supplies
Papers - card stock (110lb. found in many stores) is best for the actual card, but construction paper, scrapbook paper, or any other papers you have that are good for layering
Scrap paper to test markers, doodles, and letters
Black Sharpie markers – fine and ultrafine
Colored markers
Colored pencils
Pencil
Bar Eraser
Glue stick
Ruler

Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from UCLA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and spent my first 10 years out of college working with professional designers and photographers in the publishing world. During that time, I designed and approved layouts to go to print. I learned how typefaces and various hand-lettering techniques can take an entire spread to a higher level and catch a reader's attention. I have also enjoyed journaling and used special hand-lettering techniques in my own work for many years. I am excited to share this with others!
