○ We will begin this lesson by going through the basic steps of drawing an ice cream cone together, while giving students the freedom to construct it in the way that they choose. ○ We will then talk about ways we can make our drawings look more realistic and three-dimensional just by adding shading. ○ Students will learn the skill of cross-hatching, overlaying tiny lines to create a variation in dark to light, and receiving pointers as we draw together. ○ We will talk about line quality, value, and light and shadow as we draw. ○ Students will have the chance to make their own creative decisions along the way, and to ask questions throughout. ○ At the end, they will be able to share their drawings with each other if they choose, and think about how else they can apply these new skills. *Because this is a short lesson, students are expected to arrive in a timely manner so that we can cover everything outlined here.
