Class Experience

Students will study their own hand and draw it using observational techniques. The anatomy of the human hand will be discussed and reflected in their drawings. This class is great for teaching your student how to understand the structure/skeletal system of a hand.

The class is taught through guided-demonstrations, where students observe the teacher then complete the step(s) on their own paper. Students will practice breaking down the human hand into sections to make it easier to draw. Since each student will draw their hand, this will make their artwork truly unique!

Students may ask questions as needed. At the end of class, students are encouraged to share their artwork with the class.

*No prior knowledge is required.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to draw a semi-realistic hand (front and back). Students will discover how to break a form (hand) into shapes, to help with recreating/drawing it on paper.

Hello parents and students!

I love to use a variety of media to keep the creating process fun and exciting. Some of the media we will use are: pencils, markers, crayons, colored pencils, oil and chalk pastels, acrylic paint, watercolors, pen, and more!

I graduated in 2014 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BSED in Art Education and a Dance Minor in Choreography. I have experience teaching every grade level from Pre-K through 12th grade in both Kansas and Texas. Some of the courses I have taught are: Elementary Art, Drawing and Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics, and also Intro to Art. This is my 8th year teaching art in a public school setting.

Scaffolding the necessary skills for learning art such as problem-solving, collaborating, and self-reflecting are woven intricately into my teaching. When producing my own artwork, I often find inspiration in flowers/nature.

I also have two large Newfoundland dogs (Bruin & Orso) and love to take them for walks when I am not busy teaching. You might even see them say "Hello!" during a class or two! I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!

"Creativity takes courage." -Henri Matisse.
