After brief introductions in this weekly class, artists will see examples of the new project and discuss ideas for drawing and composing their own pieces. Examples include several steps and completed projects for inspiration so different techniques, ideas, and themes are easily understood. The final decision is theirs! Our lessons plans *may* look like this: Week of: Sep 8: Block lettering, name Sep 12: no class Sep 19: Bubble letters, birthday card Sep 26: Numbering, calendar You will...
My goal is for artists to learn new ways of drawing letters, creating borders, and other embellishments for their projects through various techniques and themes. I hope they can utilize these new skills often.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and spent my first 10 years out of college working with professional designers and photographers in the publishing world. During that time, I designed and approved layouts to go to print. I learned how typefaces and various hand-lettering techniques can take an entire spread to a higher level and catch a reader's attention. I have also enjoyed journaling and used special hand-lettering techniques in my own work for many years. I am excited to share this with others!
Artists are encouraged to complete the new weekly techniques and projects if not completed during class time and are encouraged to share their work in the class listing for others to see.
