Description
Class Experience
Students will develop or improve upon their drawing ability while exploring a variety of drawing mediums. Day 1: Line Study-Animals, Pencil/Pen (Value, Blending, Texture, Composition) Day 2: Color-Found Object Still Life, Colored Pencil/Oil Pastel (Color Theory, Light/Shadow, Form) Day 3: Landscape Study-Charcoal (Composition, Reduction, Light/Shadow, Line) Day 4: Portrait Study-Facial Feature Placement-Chalk Pastel Day 5: Cartoon-Character Development/Expression-Illustrate a joke
Students will be encouraged to expand on lessons on their own. Drawings done independently can be shared in group.
Students will need: 3 sheets white heavyweight drawing paper (or construction paper) 9”x12” (or similar) 2 sheets black (or dark) construction paper 12” x 18” Pencil Eraser Colored Pencils Chalk Pastels Charcoal (or black chalk pastel) Oil Pastels Black ultra fine Sharpie Pen (or black ink pen) Water based markers (Crayola or other)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
