Each day of camp, we will focus on drawing a different dessert together and add a new shading skill to our repertoire: ○ Day 1: Doughnut – Tonal Shading ○ Day 2: Popsicle – Hatching ○ Day 3: Cookies – Cross-Hatching ○ Day 4: Slice of Cake – Scumbling ○ Day 5: Ice Cream Sundae – Stippling ○ Each lesson will consist of step-by-step instructions for things like general outline and technique, but will also be driven by learner-directed decisions for things like colors, flavors, toppings,...
○ Students will learn methods of mixing and blending colors using colored pencils ○ Students will learn and build on their knowledge of the following shading techniques: ○ Tonal Shading ○ Hatching ○ Cross-hatching ○ Scumbling ○ Stippling ○ Students will begin to apply the following elements of design: ○ Value ○ Texture ○ Form
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art, a Masters of Art in Teaching, and seven years of teaching experience.
No homework is assigned, but students are welcome to continue to add to their drawings after each lesson if they wish.
○ White Paper ○ Colored Pencils ○ Pencil with Eraser ○ Sharpener ○ Scrap paper (for testing/mixing colors)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours 10 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
