Class Experience
In this ongoing semester class students will learn to draw different Kawaii-style characters (and facial expressions) and socialize in a safe and cheerful environment. (Kawaii means CUTE in Japanese) We will draw in real time and learn the steps for drawing four or more (depending on complexity) different characters with each weekly theme. Some characters are based on holiday themes during the week preceding a holiday. Drawing skills that we will practice include: pencil sketching,...
Students will improve drawing skills such as proportion, sketching, finalizing shapes, and color gradient. Students will also practice conversation skills and enjoy a relaxing activity. Week of June 12: Kawaii Arctic Animals Week of June 19: Kawaii Wizarding World! Week of June 26: Kawaii Sweet Foods Week of July 3: Kawaii Woodland Animals Week of July 10: Kawaii Mermaids Week of July 17: Kawaii Ocean Animals Week of July 24: Kawaii Fruit Week of July 31: Kawaii Earth Characters (clouds, mushrooms) **Weekly drawing topics subject to change based on students' preference.
Some coloring may need to be done outside of class if not finished in class.
Pencils, eraser, white paper, crayons or colored pencils, and a black pen (preferably gel-pen or fine-tip black marker).
50 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
