Class Experience

Students will learn about the significance of Celtic knots in history and see examples of famous ones throughout Irish history. They will also learn techniques for creating out own knots using lines and shading. This class will be a mixture of slides of famous art alongside visual oriented directions on drawing. My teaching style is a healthy balance of firm and friendly. I like to add in time for learners to share with one another their art. Basic drawing skills and interest are all learners need to join.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am Ms. Erica, and I teach lots of different art and writing lessons. I majored in Creative Writing in College and enrolled in a ton of art classes along the way. Later I went on to be certified through Association Montessori International to teach elementary. I have also become state certified in Texas to teach Art in public schools. I taught one year in the 4th through 6th grade class, and have taught the past 12 years in a 1st through 3rd grade classroom. I have also been the Art Leader at my public Montessori school and developed an Art Elective in the past 6 years. I've explored teaching art lessons virtually with my students during distance learning and have thrived working with them through Zoom. They are so grateful and happy to socialize while creating art together!

I value teaching fun classes, and bringing a sense of peace and joy to children. I love integrating the elements of art, history, skills and imagination.

On a personal note, I love taking long walks with my dog, husband and my two year old (well he bikes the walks). I also love growing vegetables in my backyard! In addition, I enjoy having a good laugh with my friends and family.
