Throughout the class, I will have artists share their work with me to see their progress and ask questions as they arise.

Class Experience

Each time we meet, artists will draw new dragons and are introduced to various drawing styles, strokes, and marks. We will draw together, step-by-step, using simple shapes to lead our sketch. As time allows artists are encouraged to add colors and embellish their artwork with a background. We may even include a fun art-related game or take time to share and socialize a bit!

After brief introductions, artists will be shown examples of the basic shapes and completed drawings for that week’s dragon(s). I will visually model and give verbal cues on the steps of how to draw it, but artists are encouraged to try their own approach as well.

Even though all artists will be drawing the same animal, and using the same visual references, no two will ever look alike!

Please have the following supplies on hand:
Drawing paper of your choice, 8 1/2 x 11, is an the ideal size

This class is a multi-day class so we will meet once a week for 5 weeks. Learners are charged for all 5 meeting times as one fee.

Learning Goals
My goal is for artists to have fun learning to draw different dragons each day using different combinations of strokes, lines, and shapes from our sample drawings and to continue to practice drawings on their own time.

Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from UCLA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, and chalk pastels. My style is more simple, abstract, and graphic and this is reflected in my artwork over the years. I enjoyed working with elementary-aged students for a few years when I ran a volunteer-led art program. We did a wide variety of simple art projects that incorporated the elements of art and principles of design, as well as inspiration from an art master. I love the simplicity of these animal drawings.
