1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, students will learn the basics of drawing faces in anime/manga style. We will discuss basic head shapes and how to draw facial features like eyes, nose, mouth, etc. If there is time, we will also talk briefly about drawing hair. The teacher will show several options for drawing each feature, then give the students time to practice, experiment, and ask questions before moving on to the next feature. We will discuss how each of these facial features can reveal hints of the character's personality. Finally, we will look at putting all of these features together in different combinations, and learn how to space them inside of the face. Students are welcome to share their drawings at the end of class.

Students will learn how to draw the basic anime head shapes as well as eyes, nose, mouth, and other facial features in the style of anime/manga. Students will discuss and explore how to choose features that fit the personality of their character.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Emily. I’m a teacher, writer, yogi, and artist. I have a passion for words, movement, art, and food! It brings me so much joy to see young learners discover new interests. I am delighted to be able to help them explore new topics and fan the flames of their interest.
My philosophy is that learning should be fun. In class, I love getting to know my students. I want to hear their thoughts and give them the tools to pursue their passions.
On Outschool, I am excited to offer classes in drawing in anime/manga style. I have a variety of classes that focus on different aspects of drawing. My class list is continually growing. I love to share what I am passionate about with young learners and encourage their ideas and interests.
One of the things that makes me unique as a teacher is my wide range of teaching experience. I have worked with students in kindergarten, middle school, college, and beyond. I have taught students in the USA, South Korea, and China. I have taught classes online and in person. These experiences make me a well-rounded teacher accustomed to adapting teaching style and lesson content to a wide range of students’ needs.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Dance and English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Wesleyan University. I have also completed yoga teacher training and studied traditional Irish singing at the University of Limerick. Both of my parents are artists, and I have a life-long passion for the arts. I have worked with students from kindergarten to college age. I have taught subjects including dance, art, Spanish, and more. I recently spent four years living in South Korea where I taught English as a second language in public middle schools and private kindergarten.
When I am not teaching, I can be found reading, dancing, working on my latest novel, or playing with my cats.
