Description

Class Experience

Learners will be able to apply some key steps to their own drawings at home!
Key steps:
- Light and Shadow
Learners will pinpoint the light and shadow.
- Shapes
Learners will identify the big overall shape first and then identify and draw the smaller, important shapes.
- Shading
Learners will use what they learned about light and shadow to shade their animal.
I graduated from Grand Central Atelier in New York City where I was trained to draw and paint realistically in a traditional way. While I usually draw realistically, I also enjoy using this approach to draw in different styles. My goal is to teach children the tools of drawing and give them the opportunity to practice applying them so that they will be able to draw what they want independently.
Homework will be posted on Mondays along with the drawing tutorial. The homework will consist of a pencil colored drawing of the animal of the week plus choosing one fun fact from the video.

To make the most of this class, learners will:
- post a photo by Friday (or before the next Monday) of their drawing their favorite fact
- present their favorite fact by either a video or writing a comment when they post their drawing
- interact kindly with other learners by commenting on classmates' work and thanking classmates' praise
- answer fun discussion prompts on Wednesdays to get to know each other
Paper (any size) Colored Pencils set with a variety of different colors Eraser Sharpener
Learners will receive a short summarizing and encouraging assessment at the end of the 4 weeks.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
