ABOUT
In this fun, interactive class, learners will learn foundational drawing skills that can be applied to any drawing - from cartoon to realistic. For these classes, we will focus on drawing cartoon animals with colored pencils! In every class, students will learn and practice applying key steps to the animal drawing of the week. All levels are welcome. Look for future parts coming up to continue learning about more animals and more facts.

Key steps.
- Light and Shadow
Learners will pinpoint the light and shadow.
- Shapes
Learners will identify the big overall shape first and then identify and draw the smaller, important shapes.
- Shading
Learners will use what they learned about light and shadow to shade their animal.

SCHEDULE
Every Monday, there will be a tutorial on how to draw the animal of the week with some fun facts. Learners will be tasked to finish their own drawing on their own time and present their drawing before the next week.
Every Wednesday, there will be some fun discussion questions, prompts, or game so that learners can interact and get to know one another.
Every Friday (or before the next Monday), learners will present their drawing and their favorite fact about the animal by either recording a short video and posting it on the classroom page or by uploading a picture and writing their favorite fact.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I graduated from Grand Central Atelier in New York City where I was trained to draw and paint realistically in a traditional way. While I usually draw realistically, I also enjoy using this approach to draw in different styles. My goal is to teach children the tools of drawing and give them the opportunity to practice applying them so that they will be able to draw what they want independently.
