Class Experience

Welcome artist! (FLEX CLASS)
In this month long course, students will learn about draw different animals from the wild, in their homes as well as ocean and some fun exotic animals.

The course outline is as follows:

Week one: Shapes review (Drawing basic shapes) and drawing wild animals step by step.

Week two: Shapes review (Drawing basic shapes) and drawing pets step by step.

Week three: Shapes review (Drawing basic shapes) and drawing ocean animals step by step.

Week four: Final Project - Shapes review and student drawn scene of their favorite animal.

I will provide a video each week reviewing the basic shapes we will use to draw, and how to draw each of the 5 animals step by step no later than Monday at 5pm. A multi-page handout will be provided which gives learners the option review how to draw each shape in a trace format and then blank space to practice their shape freehanded. Learners should follow along with the video each week on their on paper or whiteboard to create the 5 animals. Students should submit at least 1 photo of their creation along with 1 fun fact about one of the animals they chose to the classroom no later than Friday at 5pm.

A weekly Q&A thread will be available for students who have questions during their studies each week. I will also be providing mid-week video clips sharing with my students what I like to do in my free time and asking them to submit picture/video clips of what they enjoying outside of the classroom, too!
I am also available to students through direct message and will respond to questions within 24 hours. I encourage students to interact as a class by sharing their favorite animals and facts about them and I will help facilitate classroom discussions about their favorite colors to draw with, favorite shapes and animals they find interesting. Students will also interact with each other by sharing the video clips/pictures of things they enjoy doing outside of the classroom if they choose. These additional conversation posts will be posted throughout the week and will help create a classroom environment.

Learners do not need to be artists to enjoy and succeed in this class! They only need a desire to have fun and create art through the use of objects in their environment.

This is a flexible schedule course, which means there are NO LIVE CLASSES. I will post materials on a weekly schedule and learners will be responsible for watching each video and completing a piece of art and sharing a fun fact each week.

Hello friends! My name is Melissa and I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Virtual learning isn’t just convenient, it should be tons of FUN! My passion is to create lifelong learners that embrace curiosity and knowledge. My classroom environment is positive, interactive and allows for discussion and the ability to dive deeper into our topics.

I am a certified online ESL educator. I have a B.S. degree in Graphic Design from Full Sail University and hold an ESOL endorsement. I taught special education (grades 2-12) and ESOL (all grades). I have 6 years of experience teaching online - always striving to create the most engaging and fun learning environment for my student!

I offer a variety of classes in many different subjects for many different ages. I specialize in teaching drawing and English to students from all over the world! I can help students learn basic conversational English, phonics, and vocabulary. I also offer life skills courses and state history and exploration courses.

I have a passion for using props to really help students stay engaged and understand concepts more clearly. I believe learning isn’t just about understanding in your mind, but also connecting the physical / real world application. I also think social emotional learning is just as important as knowing your ABC's.

Traveling is my favorite hobby! Hawaii is “home” in my heart and I love all things beach. I have a deep understanding of the history and attractions of Hawaii. With over 27 years of experience traveling to the islands, I've become an expert on sharing it's history and traditions with students through my classes. Teaching virtually has allowed my to connect with students from all over the world and not only teach them, but I’ve learned quite a bit from them as well.

Life is precious. Live. Learn. Laugh.

Happy Learning friends!
