Drawing Club: Animals: Sketch, Draw, & Color!
Class experience
Each week, artists will draw a completely different animal and are introduced to various drawing styles, strokes, and marks. The roll of the die determines which version (or which part) of the animal is drawn. Then we will draw together, step-by-step, using simple shapes to lead our sketch. The alphabet is our guide to inspire the next week's animal drawing choice. After brief introductions, artists will be shown examples of the basic shapes and completed drawing options/styles. We will...
My goal is for artists to have fun learning to draw an animal each week using different combinations of strokes, lines, and shapes from our game board or sample drawings.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, and chalk pastels. My style is more simple, abstract, and graphic and this is reflected in my artwork over the years. I enjoyed working with elementary-aged students for a few years when I ran a volunteer-led art program. We did a wide variety of simple art projects that incorporated the elements of art and principles of design, as well as inspiration from an art master. I love the simplicity of these animal drawings and the random process of how to compose them in a game format!
