Ms. Kristi's Creative Art:   Learn how create vibrant paintings and contrast with black. They will learn drawing skills and painting skills including basic brush strokes. We will be creating night scenes, landscapes and more.

We are going to start at the beginning and learn about color. I will be teaching about what colors to use for highlights and which ones to use for darker shady areas and how to create interesting colors that we can use in the upcoming paintings. 

Mixing Colors

We will use all those new colors we mixed last week and incorporate them into our sunset. I will be demonstrating how to blend colors together. Step two will be painting and learning brushstrokes as we paint a silhouette of trees, grass or bushes to finish our painting and add a fun contrast. 

A Vibrant Sunset

We will start out drawing and shading as we work on a plan for the painting in lesson 4. I will demonstrate how to create distance and make a plan where the dark and light values will go. I will also demonstrate how to shade with pencil lots of different landscape textures like grass, trees and rocks. 

Planning the Fall Landscape

 We will be taking what we planned last week and painting and learning how to use color and values to create distance and realism in our paintings.  I will be demonstrating lots of different brush strokes and painting techniques that are easy to learn and incorporate in most landscapes. 

Painting a Fall Landscape

We will be drawing and shading a still life and learning how to make an object look round using dark and light values. I will be teaching how to layer objects and positioning objects to create interest in the still life. I will also teach how your eye level is important for a still life. 

Planning the Still Life 

 We will be painting on black painting paper to create a vibrant painting. Adding the dark and light values will create a rounded look in each fruit, this week we get to try that out with color. We will also be focusing on color, and which colors are complementary and create a vibrant look with the black background.

We will be painting a bird sitting on a branch and creating an interesting painting with textures, flowers and color on a black background. I will be demonstrating finer detail brush strokes for feathers, flowers and leaves.

We will be drawing and shading and making a plan for the paintings as we learn to draw and shade a mountain night scene, a night scene over the ocean and a night scene with trees. In preparation for the paintings in lesson 9, I will also be demonstrating how to paint stars on black paper.

Planning 3 Night Scenes

In our final lesson we will paint on black painting paper and create 3 fun and vibrant night scenes. I will demonstrate how to paint a moon and the glow around it. We will paint trees, clouds, the ocean and a mountain with the moons light reflexing on it. Lastly, we will add stars.
