Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This weekly Realistic art class is for beginners and intermediate learners. Art learners will have an opportunity to focus on one new subject each week. In a years' time I will demonstrate drawing or painting animals, people, still life, landscape and more. Art learners will have a chance to draw or paint and follow what I am doing or come with their own ideas that are a similar subject. I encourage art leaners to add their own ideas and add to what I am doing. I will choose to draw or paint depending on the current learners, the subject and what they need to learn.

I encourage creativity and want each art learner practicing at their skill level and with their own ideas. Depending on our subject each week art learners are welcome to bring pictures of their own ideas within the subject that we are working on. For example, if the subject for the week is drawing and shading wild animals, art learners can choose whatever wild animal they want to work on and bring a picture for reference when they are drawing. I will demonstrate how to draw a tiger in shapes then put the detail in and shade it to make it look round. Learners can follow along and draw what I am demonstrating step by step or work on their own idea within the topic. While art learners are working on their drawings, I will work individually with each learner during class to help them have success in their subject.

I have taught ongoing art classes for 11 years and have used this style of learning working individually during class It is so exciting as an instructor to watch them take off once they learn the techniques and develop their own style and interests.
