Teacher expertise and credentials
“Art is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves, and to explore what is possible.” -MaryAnn F. Kohl
As a young child I dreamed of becoming an artist. I was fascinated by artists’ ability to create something out of nothing and dream up new worlds with limitless possibilities. My goal is to ignite a passion for art and learning in children by introducing them to different art techniques. In my classes students will explore new ideas and develop their artistic identities through different mediums of art.
In my classroom the students are encouraged to take on a leadership role in regards to their learning. My role as your child’s teacher is to guide them and mediate their learning process, not fill them with knowledge. This method of teaching allows children to build confidence in their abilities and explore their own interests. Students will move at their own pace and I will meet them at they level they are. This allows for a non-competitive and creative environment in which many children thrive.
I have been working with children of all ages for over 5 years. I have completed an ample amount of coursework over early childhood education, child development, child psychology and teaching methods. I have also completed many college level science courses such as biology, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, astronomy, and physics. I am a few courses away from completing my Bachelor’s of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on 4th-8th grade science and ESL education. I love kids and have a passion for teaching!
