Description
Class Experience
In honor of indigenous peoples day we will read the story of 13 year old Alaskan student Benny Benson who designed the flag for Alaska. Young artists will draw an Alaska night sky to resemble the Northern Lights and the Big Dipper using chalk. We will compare our drawing of the Big Dipper to Benny’s Alaska flag design. They will learn a chalk blending technique. Through the use of storytelling, games and songs preschoolers will learn about blending colors. Instructor will demonstrate using...
1. Black or Dark colored construction paper for background AND scrap paper of a similar size for ripping 2. Chalk pastels, side walk chalk or chalkboard chalk (in addition to white it would be best to have at least 3 different colors) 3. Dry paper towel for blending 4. Damp cloth for cleaning fingers
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
