This self-paced course includes 5 lessons designed to lay the foundation of drawing for beginners. From understanding your artist materials, to creating texture, shading and blending with color pencils, this is the place to start!

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Intro to Drawing Materials
In this lesson we are going to dive deep into our art kits so that we really understand what each of our materials can do.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Learn the different Pencil Shading Techniques
Using our artist pencils, we will create different textures and practice different drawing techniques. This is a great tool to have in your sketchbook because you can look back at it any time to see what technique inspires you and works best for what you are drawing!
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Learn to Create a Colour Wheel
In this lesson we will learn how to create a colour wheel! We will talk about Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary colours. This is another great tool for you to have in your back pocket - understanding how to mix colours is SUPER important in the artist world!
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Learn to Draw and Shade 3D Shapes
This lesson will focus on how to draw five 3D shapes - a cube, pyramid, triangular prism, cylinder, and a sphere. Learning how to draw 3-dimensional shapes helps us to draw all sorts of objects in everyday life.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Learn how to Draw a Still Life with Fruit
In this lesson we will draw a still life with fruit! We will be practising how to use some of the drawing techniques we learned in lesson 2.
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn to identify and use a variety of drawing materials, as well as how to create texture, shade and blend using graphite and coloring pencils. 
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts and 15 years experience teaching a variety of art forms to individuals ages 3 - 80. 
Homework Offered
Students will be encouraged to work on their drawings for at least one hour a week. If they feel comfortable, they are welcome to share their work in the classroom, or send it directly to me for personalized feedback.

Artists will need a sketchbook, as well as drawing materials like a set of artist pencils, erasers, kneadable eraser, sharpener, blending stick, ruler, and pencil crayons (colouring pencils). Please feel free to reach out if you need any supply recommendations.
