What's included

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will complete their drawing independently. It is recommended that they practice the technique discussed in their sketchbook for skill building.
Assessment
This class is self assessed, unless otherwise arranged.

Class Experience

In this Flex course, learners will learn about and explore a different drawing technique each week. Certified educator and artist, Amy Pollman/Hoehner will introduce a new concept via a short demo and examples from artists and art history via video posts. Students will review the content and then create a drawing inspired by the content we discuss. 

Students will post the work they make and are encouraged to respond to each others work as well as receive feedback from the instructor. We will cover a variety of drawing topics: value, texture, line, negative/positive space, perspective, rendering, composition, portraits, landscapes, animals, optical illusion, symmetry, scale, and art fundamentals are just to name a few. 

These are some of the topics we will be covering: 

 -Drawing fundamentals: vocabulary of art, using value, considering composition and activating your picture plane.

 -Drawing a scene with a sense of space and scale

 -How to shade through the use of value
 
-Looking at shaping, proportion, and gesture to effectively draw characters or animals

Schedule is as follows: 
Week 1: Go father than anyone has gone before as we draw a Deep Space Scene! 

Week 2: How to draw Insects, Butterflies to Bumblebees!

Week 3: Let’s learn about MC Escher and create are own Optical Illusions and Impossible Rooms! 

Week 4: Furry, scaled or feathered, let’s explore how to draw Animals, Animals, Animals! 

(More classes are available if you would like additional sessions after completing sessions 1)

She received her Master’s in Art Education from the University of Toledo with accreditation to teach K-12 in Art (2018) from the Ohio Department of Education, her MFA from Syracuse University in 2003, and her BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1999. As a passionate educator of the Arts, Ms. Pollman advocates for cross-curricular integration, global citizenry, and development of personal voice in the classroom.
