This drawing class is prefect for young artists who are interested in diving into the world of DRAGONS! In this ongoing drawing class we will cover how to draw both realistic and cartoon dragons, as well as have lessons that focus on drawing different elements of a dragon. In these lessons we will learn how to draw different types of dragon eyes, wings, tails, and so much more! This will allow the artists to choose which parts they like the best and create their own unique dragons! These lessons can be taken individually, however they will be building on one another. As we progress, so will the techniques we will learn in each lesson. Often it will be important for us to refer back to our earlier lessons so that we can choose the best drawing technique for the image we will be making. Overtime, we may also revisit a theme, for example we will have multiple weeks where we draw different types of eyes or wings - each of these lessons will allow us to learn a new technique, as well as build and improve on the ones we previously practised. Here is a breakdown of what to expect in each lesson: - Greeting - Introduction to the weeks art technique and assignment - Time to demonstrate, create and chat - Share art with the group - Closing/ Goodbye We will start with the following art lessons: Week of May 20th - Learn to Draw Realistic Dragon Claws & Talons Week of May 27th - Learn to Draw Realistic Dragon Eyes Week of June 3rd - Learn to Draw Dragon Eggs Week of June 10th - Learn to Draw a Dragon Hatching Week of June 17th - Learn to Draw Cartoon Different Dragon Heads Week of June 24th - Learn to Draw a Fire Breathing Dragon * Please take into consideration that every artist works at their own pace. Students may not always have a full image completed by the end of our lesson, but they will have learned a new artistic technique! I would love to encourage each artist to continue to work on their images after class time is over. And of course, if students would like to share, please post images of their finished work in the classroom!
Learning Goals
In these lessons, artists will learn a wide variety of pencil shading techniques. We will practice drawing various elements of a dragon in both realistic and cartoon styles. Students will learn how to colour and shade their dragons so they look three-dimensional.
