Class Experience

In this ongoing drawing class we will focus on learning how to draw a different animal each week. I will cover how to draw in both realistic and cartoon styles. Each week we will rotate drawing realistic animals, fantasy animals, and insects. The weekly schedule will be posted in advance, but once class a month we will have a class vote to choose the animal.

Here is a breakdown of what to expect in each lesson:

- Greeting
- Introduction to the weeks animal
- Time to demonstrate, create and chat
- Share art with the group
- Closing/ Goodbye

We will start with the following art activities:

Week of January 1st - Draw a realistic Platypus
Week of January 8th - Draw a cartoon Red Panda
Week of January 15th - Draw a realistic Meerkat
Week of January 22nd - Draw a realistic T- Rex

* Please take into consideration that every artist works at their own pace. Students may not always have a full image completed by the end of our lesson, but they will have learned a new artistic technique! I would love to encourage each artist to continue to work on their images after class time is over. And of course, if students would like to share, please post images of their finished work in the classroom!
Learning Goals
In these lessons, artists will learn how to draw different animals in a step by step manner. I will start by drawing the initial sketch - the 'skeleton' of the animal. We will continue to add details, shading and colour.
