In this 8-week self-paced course students create their own cartoon characters! Students draw, ink, and color portraits of their characters in 3 views. For novice cartoon, anime, manga artists.

Drawing Characters in Front View
Learn how to draw characters in front view using basic shapes and steps. Follow along with the demo to learn the technique. Participate in practice sessions to get familiar with the technique. Complete and submit the homework assignment to receive feedback from the instructor.

Lesson 2
Drawing Characters in Side View
Learn how to draw characters in side view using basic shapes and steps. Follow along with the demo to learn the technique. Participate in practice sessions to get familiar with the technique. Complete and submit the homework assignment to receive feedback from the instructor.

Drawing Characters in 3/4 View
Learn how to draw characters in 3/4 view using basic shapes and steps. Follow along with the demo to learn the technique. Participate in practice sessions to get familiar with the technique. Complete and submit the homework assignment to receive feedback from the instructor.

Learn how to outline characters. Follow along with the demo to learn the technique. Participate in practice sessions to get familiar with the technique. Complete and submit the homework assignment to receive feedback from the instructor.

Coloring Characters
Learn how to color characters. Follow along with the demo to learn the technique. Participate in practice sessions to get familiar with the technique. Complete and submit the homework assignment to receive feedback from the instructor.
At the end of this course, students will be able to draw cartoon character portraits using basic shapes and steps, basic inking techniques, basic coloring techniques, and references.
Homework Offered
For each lesson, students complete and submit homework assignments to express their creativity by creating their own original characters and receive helpful feedback from the instructor.

REFERENCES: To assist in the completion of course exercises and assignments, students are encouraged to find useful references for character features (e.g. eyes, noses, mouths, hairstyles, clothing, poses, etc.) as needed. Some G-rated references will be provided in class.
