Beginner - Advanced Level
Week 1: Line, form, value, and measurement. We will study geometric forms for our first week assignments. I will provide a packet of reference material for students to work from. Week 2: Drawing objects from life. We will use photos or observation to combine geometric shapes into complex forms. We will also discuss lighting objects for drama and interest. Week 3: Full still life. Students will set up and light their own still life project and complete work for critique. Students will work during class after demo and I will check in with them and gently critique their work and give pointers before the end of class. Work from current class will be turned in at the beginning of the next class. The still life from the final class period will be submitted via e-mail and an in depth critique and suggestions for moving forward will be provided in the final report to parents and students.
Learning Goals
Students will focus on several of the elements of art. We will work on line, form, value, and composition. Students will learn to deal with frustration and setbacks.
