Draw What You Love

Teens are given drawing prompts based on their favorite anime, book, movie, mythical creature, memory, place, and more. They then draw in their own art style. Art prompts spark creativity in this supportive, no-pressure class. #creative

Class Experience

In this ongoing class, I will give learners a drawing prompt based on their favorite things and then let their creativity take over. For instance, I might give the prompts, " Draw something from your favorite anime or movie" or "Draw a place where you feel happy" or "Draw an object you treasure". Learners will be given 20-25 minutes to draw and then they will be given the chance to share their sketches. This is not an art class that teaches drawing. This is a class where learners are given the freedom to draw in their own style and then share their drawings with a supportive group. It is always fun to see that even though each learner is given the same drawing prompt they all create something totally different. Learners will not be pressured to share if they do not want to. Learners can join at any time. There will be a new prompt each week. A pencil and a sketchbook or drawing paper will be needed for this class. Digital artists are also welcome. Colored pencils or markers are optional. Join us and fill your sketch book with all your favorite things.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello. My name is Michelle Smith. I’m a homeschool mom, teacher and photographer. I love to sew, read, bake, draw, craft, watch movies and play video games with my daughter. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science and I have taught children of all ages in the classroom and online for the past 8 years. Ten years ago I turned my passion for photography into a small business. It has been such a joy to photograph children and families. I also design, sew and sell children's clothing through an online marketplace for creative goods. I now also have the pleasure of teaching photography and sewing classes to children on Outschool. I also teach Book Clubs, Gaming, Art, English, Social studies and Science classes. My classes are very inclusive and everyone is welcomed and treated with kindness. In my classes, we will have fun while we learn. I believe that learning something new doesn't have to be intimidating or boring. I also believe in the importance of developing skills like communication, patience, empathy, perseverance, and creativity. We will practice all of these skills in my classes. I look forward to meeting your learner in my classroom.
